ALLERY One Name Study

A World-Wide Study into the name Allery

Samuel John ALLERY

My great-grandfather Samuel was born on the 28th August 1847 at Paignton, Devon. He married Mary Ann HALL in 1867 then Jemima Mary Ann BLACKBURN in 1884 spending most of his life in London area. He then died on the 28th June 1922 at Camberwell.

My sister Christine ABRAM and I have been researching the surname ALLERY and its variants since the 1980’s. We are connected to the Devon tree via my grandmother Rosina Elizabeth TERRY (Allery) 28th Apr 1870 – 6th Aug 1935, the daughter of Samuel John ALLERY 23rd Aug 1847 – 28th Jun 1922.

The majority of ALLERY’s can be connected to one tree originating from the Devon area of England, the second tree originates from the Durham area of North East England and a third tree originates from the Lancashire area of England. This then leaves a number of smaller trees that have yet to be placed.

Following the acquisition of family names by the Chippewa Indians in the North Dakota area of North America in the 1880’s the surname ALLERY has been used by one or more families. This area of research is still in its early stages.
